Pomegranate supports NAMI walk 2012

Nearly 40 walkers (22 official sign-ons) turned out to walk for ‘Team Pom Kid’ Saturday, June 2nd in support of NAMI-FC walk 2012. This exceeded our recruiting goal of 10.  NAMI is the National Alliance on Mental Illness. The walk raises funds to support counseling, education and programming for mental and behavioral illness in the community.  Pomegranate was the start & finish line sponsor.  The walk was held at Fred Beekman Park on the West Campus of The Ohio State University.

Walkers for ‘Team Pom Kid’  donned sangria colored T-shirts (like the color of a Pomegranate flower) with the logo of a rejoicing adolescent on the front, and the message: ‘HEALING, HOPE & RESILIENCE’, our slogan.  The back of the shirts read: “Pomegranate Health Systems Adolescent Psychiatry”.  It was exciting to see the entire contingent of Team Pom Kid walkers rounding the curve as a unit.  See the full photo album-coming soon.  [Link to be posted to the website and this blog.]

Pomegranate also hosted a table at the health fair en route to the start line of the walk. Administrative and direct care staff, nursing, youth leaders and kids joined forces to walk together on behalf of NAMI, alongside partners in the mental health community from Netcare, Starr, Access, TwinValley, OHP, OSU, St. Vincent and other organizations.  Team PomKid raised over $1000 in support of NAMI, and contributed to greater awareness of the organization. The temperature hovered in the mid ’70’s with intermittent sunshine, making for a pleasant day to do a 3K- which is about 1.86 miles.  A good time was had by all, with children blowing bubbles, dancing, enjoying candy, and group photos.

There was significant media coverage for Pomegranate through the NAMI walk sponsorship.

NAMI was also been featured on several internet talk radio shows for talktainment radio as well as numerous newsletters, company e-mails, company internal news servers,  ADAMH newsletters, Ohio Social Worker trade magazine, as well as features in numerous online publications and blogs.  NAMI hoped to raise more than was donated and pledged.  You can still donate to this worthy cause.
